Public Institutions Government & Education Advisory – Associate Position

JLL is currently seeking an Associate to join our Public Institutions Government, Education & Non-Profit Advisory group in Washington DC.   The position requires someone with proven and creative real estate and finance skills, who has the ability to immediately support significant real estate consulting and transaction projects in the government (Federal, State, and Local) and higher education sectors.

Position Overview:
As an Associate on the team, you will play a pivotal role in connecting with current and potential clients and helping to support the delivery of our advisory services. You will play an instrumental role connecting subject matter expertise across many professionals internal and external to our team, supporting business development efforts, and directly delivering exceptional advisory services to our clients. This position will be focused, but not limited to, our federal government advisory work and other clients in the wider Washington, DC region.

Key Responsibilities:
Client / Technical Skills

Perform financial modeling, research, and analysis on a range of real estate assets (multi-family, student housing, office, medical office, hotel, industrial, and other asset types)
Master intermediate real estate financial modeling, including development pro formas and land residual models with limited guidance from Sr Associates or VPs.
Lead and draft significant components of a client deliverable
Regularly support leadership in the presentation of findings and public speaking engagements
Oversee and review the work of analysts
Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to support conclusions and recommendations in deliverables.
Take on project management responsibilities for projects (e.g. Creating and monitoring project schedules, drafting agendas, and facilitating client meetings or information requests)
Growth / Business Development

Provide significant input into proposal content, including written and graphic content
Support and participate in pitches with clients
Begin to develop relationships with existing clients and JLL business lines, and identify potential new opportunities
Support strategy for business development
People

Engage in mentoring and training analysts
Collaborate and connect with other associates and analysts across the country
Engage with other PI or JLL business lines to connect with other associates or analysts
We’re seeking:
Bachelor’s or higher degree focused on Business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field
Four to seven years of experience in real estate and/or financial advisory services
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives concurrently and to effectively collaborate with diverse teams
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Willingness to travel
Experience with federal government clients and other public and education organizations in the Washington DC region
