Position Summary
The Administrator provides direct support to AAREP’s executive leadership and Board of Directors, ensuring smooth operations and effective day-to-day management of both the 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) arms of the organization. This role is central to strengthening AAREP as an advocacy and membership-based organization dedicated to economic parity and empowerment for African Americans.
Job Description:
Administration
- Coordinate and manage daily administrative operations to support AAREP’s mission including but not limited to:
- Coordination with marketing vendor to ensure website maintenance
- Preparation and distribution of invoices for sponsorships
- Maintain sponsorship tracking
- Prepare and collate materials for monthly board meetings
- Program execution
- Maintaining and responding timely to AAREP DC emails
- Participate with the Board of Directors in developing and implementing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization.
- Lead and execute the day-to-day AAREP operations including the membership, program and financial management of the organization.
- Manage scheduling, correspondence, and logistics for board meetings, committee meetings, and programs.
- Support planning and execution of events, workshops, and initiatives aimed at promoting economic opportunities for the AAREP community
- Oversee membership management and support recruitment, onboarding, and retention members.
- Support the AAREP Executive Committee in recruitment, training, mentoring, and planning of volunteers, quarterly board meetings, annual board retreat, new board member orientation, board trainings, and annual conference.
- Assist AAREP Board Committees in their work by maintaining contact with committee chairs and providing assistance and guidance as needed.
- Provide administrative support for financial management, including processing invoices, tracking expenses, and preparing monthly financial statements and annual IRS reports (990s).
- Ensure timely completion of monthly financial statements and annual reports (990s) to IRS
Advocacy and Policy
- Coordinate with and support the Executive team in AAREP DCs advocacy efforts.
- Track DC legislation to share with AAREP Executive Committee to advocate for issues that will support AAREP members
Fundraising and Membership
- Support the development of relationships with current and potential sponsors of AAREP
- Prepare proposals for support, write grant reports on accomplishments, and identify and cultivate potential sponsors.
- Support the development of programs for the broader community to raise awareness of issues facing AAREP members
- Prepare content for newsletter and other materials.
- Liaise with relevant DC real estate organizations to advance AAREP programs and initiatives
ADA SPECIFICATIONS: (Physical demands that must be met to successfully complete the essential
functions of the job)
- While largely sedentary, this position requires the ability to sit, stand, and lift up to 20 lbs., speak and hear, sometimes for extended periods of time.
- Requires the ability to use a computer and office equipment traditionally found in office settings.
- Requires the periodic ability to travel locally, on behalf of the company.
