With six different committees to choose from, there is something for everyone:
The Gala Committee is made up of an Event Chair, an outsourced Event Coordinator, and a group of committed volunteers who band together to make this event come to life. Gala Chair and Coordinator are ultimately responsible for volunteer coordination, event mailings, material design, entertainment, venue confirmation, auction item coordination, décor, corporate sponsorships, event award selection, and other duties as necessary.
The Programs Committee evaluates the educational needs of African American commercial real estate professionals, developing programming that is responsive to those professionals’ needs, and delivering programs in the most educationally effective and financially efficient manner. The Programs Committee takes an active role in securing program topics, speakers, as well as notifying members about up and coming events of interest.
The Communications and PR Committee serves both AAREP DC and the Foundation to oversee and develop content for AAREP DC and the Foundation websites, social media sites, develop public education materials, increase awareness and oversee media outreach initiatives.
The Membership Committee works with AAREP DC in conjunction with AAREP DC executive board members to create a positive environment for improvement and growth within the organization. The Membership Committee keeps existing members involved and attracts new members to AAREP DC, as well as maintains the existing membership database and monthly membership spotlight recipients.
The Sponsorship Committee is responsible for assuring and centralizing funding from private and non-private organizations, institutions and companies. AAREP DC sponsorship can provide your organization with a unique and valued opportunity to be recognized by our members as an integral part of the commercial real estate industry. Your sponsorship supports programs and networking events for students, young professionals, professionals, and others. Our exciting 2015 program calendar covers current and relevant topics and projects led by influential professionals as well as meet and greets, receptions, and our Annual Awards Gala.
The Student Outreach Committee is responsible for developing the aspirational brand of elite, self-motivated, and highly intellectual students and young professionals of the commercial real estate industry. It takes undergraduates attending accredited universities or colleges (students) and professionals 30 or under (young professionals) and provides them with the foundation to be successful. Through various events, the committee facilitates industry education, networking opportunities, and job/ internship placement.
